A lot can be said about the grip, yet it is often overlooked by most instructors. It is the only connection between you and the golf club.
The goal of a correct grip is to allow you to swing the club from start - to impact - and return the clubface back to the position it started at. When someone grips a golf club for the first time, they think “how would I grip a baseball bat” and “what seems comfortable?” This usually leads to a slice.
To the right I have shown a neutral, strong, and weak grip. Each of these grips are more effective with certain swing types. Most golfers would benefit from the Neutral Grip. This is where the palms of both hands are facing each other and only about 2 knuckles of the left hand can be seen.
